We have lost a great champion of religious liberty.
Don Byrd has posted an excerpt from a speech given by Senator Ted Kennedy in today's entry at the Baptist Joint Committee for Reliogious Liberty blog. The speech was given on the separation of church and state at Liberty University in 1983.

I also would encourage you to watch this video of a speech on health care that Senator Kennedy gave last year.

Yesterday's news of Edward Kennedy's death again brought to mind a comment I made a year ago. After reading an online article about him, I read some of the readers' comments following. One somewhat angry comment stated, "His people ought to just tell the truth. He is dying!" My response was, "We are all dying. He has just decided to live as fully as possible in whatever time he has left. We should all try that." Edward Kennedy was an enigma. But as he aged, he gained strength, confidence, and the knowledge that he could do something great to help those who had no voice.
